There has been another boost for Eelde Airport with Dutch travel company Corendon announcing two new routes, according to RTV Drenthe.
The new destinations to the Greek island of Rhodes and Dalaman in Turkey will begin operating from Eelde in summer 2023. The new twice-weekly Dalaman service and the weekly Rhodes service will be launched from August 2023.
Jonas van Dorp, commercial manager of the airport, said the move demonstrated the tour operator’s commitment to the airport and was another vote of confidence in Eelde.
“The addition of these two new routes demonstrates our response to the growing demand for regional departures,” he said.
Corendon has also announced that it will operate an extra flight to the island of Crete in the summer season.
Other tour operators have added additional Mediterranean summer services, too. TUI’s 2023 holiday season program will feature one more flight from Eelde to the Turkish resort city of Antalya, a popular destination for many Dutch sunseekers.
Travel company Sunweb will also offer flights from Eelde this year, initially for the autumn holiday period between October 21 and 28. Sunweb’s destinations include the island of Rhodes and the Turkish cities of Antalya and Bodrum.
