The museum’s children-led exhibition will run until January 2022
Queen Máxima will open the Children’s Biennale at the Groninger Museum on Tuesday 1 June. The museum is hosting the first Children’s Biennale in the Netherlands: an interactive exhibition with work by artists from the Netherlands and abroad. Thirty children’s ambassadors from the province of Groningen contributed to the curation and creation of the artwork, and the layout of the exhibition.
In the run-up to the exhibition, thechildren helped to determine the floorplan, contributed to writing information about the artwork, and learned about marketing and how to give a tour. The children also paid a studio visit to the participating artists. As reported by the GIC.
Queen Máxima will be given a tour of the exhibition and will talk to the artists and the children’s ambassadors.
Due to ongoing Coronavirus measures, the exhibition can initially only be visited by schools from the province of Groningen, but after the museums have fully reopened, the Children’s Biennale is open to the public until January 9, 2022.
