The Drents Museum was paid a visit by Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven (Education, Culture, Science)
Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven (Education, Culture and Science) visited the Drents Museum yesterday as part of a pilot access with tests. She was welcomed by general manager Harry Tupan and business manager Annelies Meuleman. During her visit, the minister visited various exhibitions and talked to employees and visitors of the museum.
In addition to the Drents Museum, the Groninger Museum, Fries Museum and Jopie Huisman Museum were also on the program on Monday. The northern museum tour also marked the start of the National Museum Week, which takes place from 19 to 25 April.
Access with quick test
In April 2021, pilot programmes to allow access for people with negative test certificates were started in the culture, sports and recreation sector. Visitors to events and attractions are invited for a free quick test upon booking their tickets, and must show proof of a negative Coronavirus test at the entrance.
As part of this quick test pilot it is possible for Museum Card holders to visit seventeen museums, spread throughout the Netherlands. Tickets are available through museum.nl. The Drents Museum is open for this occasion on Monday 19, Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 April from 11:00 to 17:00.

General manager Harry Tupan says: “We look back on a successful visit by the minister. She was moved by the art and is enthusiastic about the activities of the museum. Given today’s experience, I think it has become even clearer that we as a museum sector can open again safely and responsibly. ”
The pilot will be held from 19 to 25 April 2021 during the National Museum Week. More than 400 museums that are members of the Museum Association participate in the Museum Week. This week there is also a lot of extra offerings available online at museum.nl.
