It’s always sunny in Hoogeveen
There is to be a 26-hectare solar park between the villages of Hollandscheveld and Nieuwlande in the province of Drenthe, reports RTV Drenthe. Local residents have signalled that they agree with the plans, and the municipality of Hoogeveen now intends to grant a permit to the Powerfield company.
The land, where about 91,000 panels are to be placed, is still agricultural land. The electricity generated would be able to supply about 5,600 households, whilst also helping to achieve various climate targets in the municipality of Hoogeveen.
After discussions with local residents, it has been agreed that a green border with plants will be created along the west side of the park. This should ensure that the solar park and associated fence are not visible.
“The initiator has been in contact with local residents. They have been able to express their wishes and requirements regarding the solar park. They have been honored”, the municipality says.
