Following 2,500 votes on the cycling website Fietsen123.nl, the province of Gelderland came out on top with more than 25 percent of the vote. Drenthe came in a close second with 23 percent of the vote, and Noord Brabant came in third.
The national vote revealed that it was primarily people who come from other provinces that chose Gelderland and Drenthe as their favourite go-to spot for cycling. Cyclists indicated that they especially enjoy the natural beauty of the landscape, clearly marked signage for routes and the quality of the bike paths.
As for the rest of the north, Friesland came in around the middle of the pack, and Groningen is tied for last place along with Noord Holland and Flevoland.
