The DOT will also have a drive-through Christmas experience
Groningen might have the largest Christmas bauble in the world from 6 December. Despite the Coronavirus, some 6,000 LED lights are to be attached to the bulbous dome in the East of Groningen, reports the GIC.
New this year is the Drive-Thru experience. The DOT, together with three other restaurants in Groningen, have come up with the ‘Christmas bauble box’. The box hopes to replicate that festive feeling at home.
“You arrive at DOT and under the huge Christmas bauble you’ll see attractively lit Christmas trees. When you open the windows a little, Christmas songs slowly fill up your car. You are enthusiastically received by Santa Claus and the experience begins… you have arrived at the pick-up point of the Christmas bauble box,” says the DOT on its website.
The box is a joint initiative by the restaurants Paviljoen Sterrebos, Huis de Beurs, NOK and DOT. It will consist of a three-course menu and also all kinds of nice little surprises, such as a Christmas present and a December Spotify playlist.
The restaurants will donate 5 euros from each Christmas ball box sold to the Quiet Community Groningen Foundation. Quiet is committed to people in poverty in the Netherlands (which is the fifth richest country in Europe, and has a GDP per capita of nearly 45,000 euros).
