The train traffic in and to Leeuwarden was disrupted on Thursday due to police ordering an evacuation of the station after a suspicious jerry can with an unknown liquid was found in an empty train.

Both the transport company Arriva and the police in Friesland reported about this incident via Twitter. The police could not adequately estimate what the explosion hazard was, so the Explosives Clearance Service (EOD) were called in.
For security reasons, the police closed the entire station area to investigate. The police have arrested a 68-year-old man from Stavoren for possible involvement and are questioning him.
