32 Coronavirus patients are currently in an Intensive Care ward in Groningen

There are currently 32 Coronavirus patients in an intensive care units in Groningen, the highest number since April 30 last year. The number of patients in the regular Coronavirus nursing wards has also increased by fifty percent on last week, per firgures from the Acute Care Network Northern Netherlands. As reported by the GIC.

A week ago there were 28 patients suffering from the Coronavirus in an IC ward in Groningen, with, four more patients were admitted in the last week. The number is the highest since April 2020, when 34 patients were being cared for. The all-time peak was reached on April 2, 2020, when 56 patients were in a Groningen IC.

There are currently 44 patients in a non-Intensive Coronavirus nursing ward, up 15 in a week. The peak in the normal Coronavirus wards was on January 4 this year, with 76 patients.

In the entire Northern Netherlands, 133 people are now in regular Coronavirus nursing wards, 34 more than a week earlier. Seventeen of these patients come from another region of the Netherlands. There are also 74 patients in the ICU, seven more than a week earlier. Of the 74 patients, 15 come from another region.

The hospital numbers are therefore rising, but the infection numbers decreased by about fifteen percent last week. Groningen is now even the province with the lowest infection rate: numbers of new infections often translate into a higher number of hospital admissions a few weeks later.
