The bell tower in Der Aa-kerk in Groningen will not be chiming for the next couple of weeks while it is being repaired.
The Groninger Internet Courant reports that the bells had not been chiming on time recently due to clock components wearing down.
The municipality of Groningen has hired a specialty company to repair the broken components. The company inspected the bell tower on Thursday and began removing the faulty parts to either repair or replace them.
The bell tower will not be chiming for the next couple of weeks while repairs are being carried out. The replacement parts will be installed on Thursday, 31 May.
