A cyclist who was struck by a truck on Friday morning in Leeuwarden has died.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Engelsestraat and Harlingerstraatweg near the centre of Leeuwarden around 7:30 on Friday morning.
The Leeuwarder Courant reports that the trauma helicopter from UMCG with a Mobile Medical Team on board landed on the street at the scene. Omrop Fryslân writes that multiple ambulances and a fire engine also responded to the accident, but the cyclist could not be saved.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are not yet clear and the police are investigating. The street where the collision occurred remains closed.
