Road works and other construction projects across the province of Friesland means detours to the route of the Cycling Elfstedentocht on Monday.
Omrop Fryslân reports that several of the participating municipalities are undergoing roadworks and other infrastructure updates, which means that cyclists will have to take a slightly different route than usual.
Cyclists participating in the annual event, which will start and finish in Bolsward, will have to follow detours in Ijlst, Dokkum, Holwerd and Leeuwarden. The town of Marsum is also carrying out upgrades to its sewer system this week, but that should be completed before the race kicks off on Whit Monday.
