Only 6 new infections were detected in Groningen over the weekend, with the same number of new infections in Friesland and Drenthe
The number of employees infected with the COVID-19 Coronavirus at the University Hospital Groningen, UMCG, has risen from 47 to 51. A little more than 1200 hospital employees have now been tested. As reported by the GIC.
GGD Groningen reported on Sunday afternoon that 6 new infections were detected in the province of Groningen, with the total now standing at 69. The actual number is probably higher, because not everyone with complaints is still being tested.
The GGD in Friesland reported on Friday that there were 6 new cases across the Province, whilst on Sunday in Drenthe the GGD reported a rise of 6 cases, with a total of 43 overall.
The Ommelander Hospital (OZG) in the east of the province of Groningen in Scheemda (the second largest hospital in the province) is taking care of three patients who are infected with the Coronavirus, and are from Brabant. The three have been transferred from the Elisabeth Tweesteden Hospital in Tilburg. The hospital reports that the patients are being taken care of in its special Corona department, and that the three are currently not in need of intensive care.
On Sunday, a first employee of the OZG in Scheemda tested positive for the infection. The infection probably took place outside the hospital. The staff member is at home.
