The fourth wave of the Coronavirus continues to ebb in the Northern Netherlands, with Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe all seeing fewer confirmed new cases compared to both yesterday, and the 7-day average.
For the most up to date Coronavirus figures, check the Dutch government’s Coronavirus dashboard.
There were 116 new cases in Friesland yesterday, down from the 7-day average daily total of 139. Drenthe saw just 68 new cases (7-day average: 78 daily), whilst Groningen saw 114 new cases, down from the average of 157.
This is in sharp contrast to just a few weeks ago, when the Dutch government decided to re-open night clubs and remove the face-mask requirement: July 13 saw a full 633 new cases in Groningen alone. Two people were admitted to hospital in Friesland yesterday.
Across the Netherlands, there were 3,914 confirmed positive new cases yesterday: on July 16 the total was 11,277 new cases.
A total of 19,600,216 vaccines have been administered, with about 7.9 million people fully vaccinated, and a further 4 million people having received one shot.
