Meanwhile the GGD Friesland is reporting several instances of ‘fake phone-calls’
Coronavirus figures in the provinces of Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe have risen again after the weekend. Between Sunday and Monday, 110 new infections were registered in the province of Groningen, 47 of which were in the municipality of Groningen.
Last weekend, the Coronavirus figures in Groningen and Friesland fell sharply. The numbers of positive tests in Groningen looked to have halved, compared to the weekend before. On Sunday, RIVM registered exactly 92 new infections in the province of Groningen, 36 of which in the municipality of Groningen, reports the GIC. In Friesland, a counting error had caused artificially low test numbers, too.
National figures also rose again on Monday. Over the weekend, the average was just over 9,400 new infections. On Monday, RIVM registered 10,353 new positive tests. 26 patients also died, one more than the day before.
Between Sunday and Monday, 291 new Coronavirus patients were hospitalised. There were 506 patients in intensive care on Monday, 16 more than on Sunday. In total there were 2,249 people suffering from the Coronavirus in the hospital on Monday, 102 more than Sunday.
In the province of Groningen, 16 IC beds were occupied by a patients on Monday, two more than on Friday. There were also 45 patients with the virus in the ordinary nursing wards, four fewer than Friday.
Separately, the GGD in Friesland has reported people being contacted by fake Coronavirus testing teams, and being given misleading results, reports the Omrop Fryslân. One of the fake calls even led the Lyndensteyn School in Beetsterzwaag being closed for the day.
