Both Provinces have experienced rises in infections in the last few weeks
The Coronavirus is remaining fairly quiet in the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen, but the number of infections is increading. Drenthe recorded 38 new infections in the first three weeks of August. In Groningen there were 145, reports the Dagblad van het Noorden.
Total number of infections up to and including 20 August
– The Netherlands: 65,000 (37 per 10,000 inhabitants)
– Drenthe: 590 (12 per 10,000 inhabitants)
– Groningen: 533 (9 per 10,000 inhabitants)
Infections per municipality
The Dagblad van het Noorden has also put together a series of tables in granular detail, showing the various infection, hospitalisation, and death rates per municipality. They can be accessed here.
Situation in Groningen causing concern
The GGD Groningen has put the number of infections into a graph, available here. This shows a general increase in the number of infections, and a rise of the infection curve, for the first time since the first outbreak in March.
Phone app being tested in Drenthe
As reported last week, the new Coronavirus app is being tested in Drenthe. The GGD Drenthe is now providing up to date figures for infections in the Province, which show that testing is being widened to around 1,000 tests per day. Separate information shows that only around 3 new infections are discovered each day.
Friesland shaken by local outbreaks
The GGD in Friesland will update its weekend figures in the coming hours, however around 59 new cases per week are being recorded, as The Northern Times reported on Friday.
