96 new cases in Groningen, 121 new cases in Drenthe, 135 in Friesland
The Northern Netherlands continues to weather the second Coronavirus wave, with Groningen and Friesland experiencing a small rise in the number of infections on the day before, and infections in Drenthe falling on a 24-hour basis.
The figures are still worrying, however, with all three Provinces sitting above the Dutch governments ‘alarm level’ of 7 infections per 100,000 residents. Drenthe has 24.5 infections per 100,000 residents, Friesland has 20.8 infections per 100,000 residents, and Groningen has 16.4 infections per 100,000 residents.
Local hotspots in each Province have shifted, too, with Súdwest-Fryslân the highest in Friesland (50 per 100,000), and De Wolden the hotspot for Drenthe (49.3 per 100,000). Stadskanaal (53 cases per 100,000 residents) remains the hotspot for Groningen.
The Safety Region of ‘Zuid-Holland-Zuid’, which includes the cities of Dordrecht, Den Bosch, and Tillburg is the worst affected area in the Netherlands, with nearly 100 infections per 100,000 residents.
