About 350 people live at the AZC Delfzijl
Ten new Coronavirus infections have been identified at the Asylum Seekers’ Center in Delfzijl in the last few days. This brings the total number of infections at the Center to 25.
The new infections have been confirmed by both the GGD Groningen, and the COA. As reported by the regional broadcaster RTV Noord.
The first infection came to light two weeks ago, when one of the residents reported complaints. After source and contact research, more residents were tested and found to also be suffering with the virus. On Monday, a further fifteen residents had tested positive.
All activities at the AZC in Delfzijl have since been stopped, including helping with cleaning the shopping trolleys at a local supermarket. All 34 children from the Center must also home isolate and not go to school.
There are about 350 residents in the asylum seekers’ center in Delfzijl, with a total capacity of 400.
