Maybe think twice before heading to the terrace
In the past week, 1,087 Coronavirus infections were confirmed in the province of Groningen, one hundred more than a week earlier. The number of hospital admissions in Groningen fell by two in a week, though, as older people tend to have had at least one dose of the vaccine. As reported by the GIC.
The infection rate in Groningen is 180 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which is much lower than the national average infection rate of 310.
Nevertheless, the situation in Groningen is still “very serious”, also because there are also 70 hospital admissions per 100,000 inhabitants. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 32,334 people in Groningen have been tested positive for the virus.
According to the GGD, which keeps the figures, the percentage of infected young people (up to 30 years) has increased: 44 percent of all infected persons are under the age of 30. Only ten percent of infected people are older than 65.
There are currently 72 patients with the Coronavirus in hospital, 27 of which are in an IC bed. A week earlier there were 74 of which 31 in the ICU. The number of deaths from the virus has increased by four to 235 in total last week.
Vaccinations
The GGD Groningen has succeeded with just over 16,000 vaccinations in week 15. Until now, the GGD has dispensed 90,149 vaccinations. In addition, GPs are also dispensing the vaccine for certain groups.
