There are currently 12 Coronavirus patients in Groningen’s hospitals
Coronavirus figures in Groningen seem to be stablising: the RIVM has confirmed 29 new positive cases on Monday afternoon, one less than the seven-day average. There are currently twelve patients with Coronavirus complications in one of the Groninger hospitals. As reported by the GIC.
The daily infection figures in the municipality of Groningen have been fluctuating for weeks between twenty and thirty each day; sometimes with peaks higher or troughts lower. A week ago, the RIVM confirmed 27 new infections in a day: the week before that, there were 42 new positive cases on average each day.
Province of Groningen
The RIVM confirmed 60 new infections in the entire province of Groningen on Monday. The seven-day average now stands at 64 positive tests per day. A week ago, there were about 45 new infections daily, but two weeks ago, the RIVM recorded 89 infections in one day.
National figures
On Monday, 2,275 new infections were confirmed across the country. That was slightly lower than the seven-day average of 2,345 new infections. Across the country, the numbers have fluctuated between 2,000 and 3,000 infections per day for about two weeks.
Across the country, 703 corona patients are now in hospital. It is the first time in two weeks that the limit of 700 patients has been broken again. There are 199 patients in the ICU, which is one less than on Sunday. However, the number of patients in the nursing wards increased by 33 compared to Sunday.
According to the LCPS (a national organisation for the regulation of inpatients), the influx of new patients has stabilised. It is striking, however, that the influx of patients is still quite high compared to the decreasing infection figures. “I expected a faster decline,” says Ernst Kuipers on behalf of the acute care network.
