Let’s not get overconfident

As reported by the GIC, only 17 positive Coronavirus tests were confirmed in Groningen yesterday. Before popping any champagne, though, it should be noted that a national computer error might have contributed to the low numbers. The day before yesterday, 57 new cases were confirmed: still massively down on last week (about 130 new cases per day).
The seven-day average for the Province of Groningen is 128 per day, though yesterday just 44 new cases were confirmed. Any missed tests yesterday will be added to today’s totals.
Across the Netherlands as a whole, the number of new Coronavirus cases fell to 3,513 (one week ago the RIVM confirmed 6,881 new cases in one day). 465 patients are in hospital due to the Coronavirus, whilst 164 are in an Intensive Care Unit.
Dutch PM Mark Rutte has said that he expects hospitalisations to fall next week, with cases having similarly fallen in the last two weeks.
