The Coronavirus outbreak has dealt a major blow to the economy in the province of Drenthe. In the second quarter of this year, the Province’s economy contracted between 8 and 10 percent.
The figures are from Statistiek Nederland, with the percentages concerning economic growth compared to a year earlier, RTV Drenthe reports.
In the first quarter, the economy in Southwest Drenthe grew modestly. In the other regions in the province there was a slight contraction at the time. In the second quarter, the economy was hit hard everywhere in Drenthe.
Economic policy makers in Drenthe hope that a longer summer will allow for greater tourism in the Province, which is one of its main economic drivers.
