Groningen has the lowest new infection figures in the Netherlands
The number of Coronavirus infections in the Northern Netherlands has decreased in the last day, reports OOGTV, indeed, Groningen has the lowest number of new infections in the Netherlands.
However, this has not yet translated into a reduction in the pressure on inpatient and intensive care beds. That remains high, but some improvement is expected in the near future. In that case, regular care can be scaled up again, according to the AZNN (Acute Care Network Noord-Nederland).
About 30 percent of the COVID patients that are taken outside their own region in the Netherlands are transported to hospitals in Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe. That is much more than in other regions of our country. Since the second Coronavirus wave, 325 patients have been transferred to nursing wards in the North, with 75 in intensive care.
