The popular camp site Appelhof on the isle of Terschelling will close its doors after eight youngsters were diagnosed with COVID-19. They tested positive after their stay at the camp site. Every summer, hundreds of young people come to Appelhof to enjoy their holidays.
The outbreak started with two youngsters who tested positive after their stay. Authorities said there was a chance that the two youngsters infected others during their stay at the camp site. Already at that time the camp site announced that they will close the camp site two weeks earlier as normal.
Testing capacity increased
The communal health service GGD asked everyone who stayed at Appelhof in the last week, to get themselves tested if they have any complaints or symptoms. The testing capacity on the island was therefore increased. On Thursday the GGD announced that the number of infections rose from two to eight.
At this moment there are around 800 young guests at the camp site. Next Monday another 300 new guests were expected, but their booking will be cancelled.
