From noon on Friday until Saturday early afternoon, thunderstorms will be rocking Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe. The KNMI, the Dutch Meteorological Institute, has issued a code yellow warning.
There’s also a chance a lot of rain could be coming down in a short period of time, which can lead to flooding in the area. People driving have to keep in mind that tunnels and motorways are likely to flood. This already happened 2 days ago in parts of the country, including some northern regions.
The KNMI also predicts there might be heavy hailstorms.
The code yellow is issued from 12:00 on Friday, until 13:00 on Saturday. They predict that later on Friday evening the heavier precipitation will cease.
There is also a code yellow issued for other parts of the Netherlands.
