Slippery conditions have cancelled bus travel in Friesland, and turned pavements across the region into skating rinks
by Thomas Ansell
With ongoing freezing rain, the Dutch meteorological office (KNMI) has issued a Code Red warning for slippery and icy conditions across the North on Monday. In Friesland, the warning will turn to a Code Yellow from 12:00, but in Groningen and Drenthe the Code Red will remain in force until 14:00.
Temperatures will climb from this evening though, with double figures likely at the end of the week. Naturally, this will likely come with rain from Tuesday.
Arriva bus services in Friesland (including the Wadden Islands) have been stopped until further notice, QBuzz buses in Groningen and Drenthe are running. The NS is running train services.
