In an ever-faster changing climate: ‘We change and adapt! Will you?’
By Adriana Dancu
Climate change is the biggest challenge in the twenty-first century. Its effects, from flooding, landslides, and ‘food deserts’, are as diverse as its causes; industrial pollution, excessive consumption, and economic tendencies.
Climate Adaptation Groningen is organizing a free online festival from January 19 (Tuesday), to January 25, 2021, which hopes to serve as a conversation starter for learning how to adapt to the changing climate.
The festival offers a week of knowledge, inspiration, and action on climate adaptation in order to “initiate a movement to make everyone aware of climate adaptation.”
The programme of Climate Adaptation Week is packed with fun, innovative, and inspiring activities. There will be lectures, exhibitions for children, conferences; movies, and planning towards a greener environment.
The festival week will open with a “Presentation of climate adaptive designs in Groningen,” which shows how several landscape architects from the Netherlands and abroad have sought to create climate-adaptive solutions in this unique landscape.
“Exhibition Sponsland: A journey into future landscapes,” at the Grote Markt will offer a physical and online exhibition presenting landscapes from Groningen, and initiatives to adapt to the changing climate.
