The fake account has been putting out rambling, incoherent statements
The municipality of Groningen is unhappy with a fake Facebook account impersonating the mayor of Groningen, under the name “Mayor Koen”.
The Facebook page is meant to look somewhat official, with a number of videos made by OOGTV with interviews from the (real) mayor. As reported by the GIC.
But there are also test posts that the Mayor Schuiling is very unlikely to have said: “It is economically important to open Lelystad Airport earlier”.
Or, the also bizarre statement: “The end of the crisis seems in sight, but that does not immediately mean a wage increase. For all those who wish to participate in UN non-refundable funding, please message me so that I can refer you to the person in charge of the project. I wish many people would take this funding because we are going through a difficult time. Good luck!”
And, on June 17: “Congratulations to all my fellow citizens who received their funding last week. The UN Non-Refundable Funding Project is always available to anyone who wants to apply. May God guide us on the right path. See you all next week.”
Remove the Account
Friday’s Dagblad van het Noorden states that the municipality of Groningen has asked Facebook to remove the fake account.
