The courtyard inside the former Aegon building near the Leeuwarden train station is being transformed into a performance and art space in the city.

The courtyard already serves as an information centre for the European Capital of Culture, but Podium Asteriks will begin organising cultural events in the space this week. Asteriks’ goal is to turn the area into a cool place to hang out, listen to live music and hit the dance floor.
According to Suksawat, the first events will be held there during the May vacation. The “Stemmingmakerij”, an evening of music by Deeptrax and Kingkong, will take place Saturday, 28 April; Leeuwarden-based improv team Man Met Snor will take the stage on Sunday, 29 April; and Wordperfect, a poetry and rap show featuring Dave Budha and KUO, will take place there on Thursday, 3 May.
