RTV Noord reports that multiple fire engines responded to the scene and that the road was partially closed to traffic. According to the Groninger Gezinsbode, it is not yet clear was caused the fire.
Just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the Groningen fire department tweeted that they had used foam to bring the blaze on the diesel bus under control.
Correction: a pervious version of this article stated that the Vondellaan is in the Helpman neighbourhood. It is in De Wijert. This has been corrected.
