She had only just moved to Groningen, and is not symptomatic
A Chinese researcher at the University of Groningen has put herself into quarantine because of the corona virus, as reported by the University newspaper Ukrant.
The PhD candidate has decided to voluntarily stay in quarantine for two weeks, due to the corona outbreak. She arrived in Groningen last Saturday from the province of Shandong.
Friends are bringing her food, so she only has to leave her house to throw out the trash early in the morning. “This is the best solution for everyone,” she says. She has discussed everything extensively with her new roommate in Groningen.
They have decided together that she will live alone in their house, while her roommate temporarily rents an Airbnb. In two weeks (the incubation time of the corona virus) the housemate will return.
The researcher comes from Dikou, a village 750 kilometers north of Wuhan, and she has said that the local authorities decided at the beginning of the outbreak to close the village, so she could no longer go to friends and family to say good-bye before coming to the Netherlands.
Yesterday, the UMCG announced that it is fully prepared for Coronavirus coming to Groningen.
