Groningen-based digitalisation and automation company Klippa celebrated its move to a brand new office space that will also serve as its headquarters.
“We started in some room with six guys and now there’s like 100 people here,” Klippa CEO Yeelen Knegtering told The Northern Times at his company’s gathering celebrating the big move on Friday (1st September).
Founded in Groningen in 2015, Klippa’s mission is the digitalisation and automation of tedious administrative tasks. It uses artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and optical character recognition (OCR) to get the job done. Apart from its new Groningen HQ, Klippa has offices in Amsterdam, Hamburg, and Brașov, Romania.
“As an entrepreneur on a daily basis you’re only focused on what you can do better and how you can improve tomorrow. These are the times when you can actually reflect on your achievements and that makes you proud to see that this is actually what you’ve built,” said Knegtering.
Klippa aiming to double its workforce
In a statement released today Monday, Klippa said it has 100 employees and is aiming to double that by the end of 2024. It said that with this expansion, heading out from a shared office space into its own HQ was a logical move. The building on Laan Corpus Den Hoorn 1 also houses a gym that the Klippa team can use to build both muscle and team spirit.
While a shared office space was great in the early life of his company, the necessary security protocols are much easier to implement in a workspace Klippa has full control of, said Knegtering in the statement.
Speaking to The Northern Times, Knegtering described the company as an internationally oriented one with clients in around 30 countries. Klippa’s workforce currently encompasses around 15 nationalities.
“We are one of the few companies in Groningen that has a majority of its revenue coming from Europe, outside of the Netherlands. That’s why we focus a lot on hiring international people because they help us with the nuances from different cultures,” Knegtering said.
“If you want to work at one of the fastest growing companies in Groningen and you like an international atmosphere that’s very ambitious, then we are the place to be at,” he concluded.
