In addition to a screening at the Groninger Forum, the international feline phenomenon CatVideoFest is also being held in Leeuwarden on Thursday, 8 August.

CatVideoFest, an American event that originated in Washington state, is basically a compilation of more than an hour’s worth of the best cat videos out there, including “unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and, of course, classic internet powerhouses”. The cinematic experience raises money for cats in need.
The Leeuwarder Courant reports that the 70-minute-long cat video compilation will be shown at the Slieker film house in the city on Thursday afternoon, and the profits will go to De Wissel animal shelter. A spokesperson for the cinema says that a representative from the shelter will give a short presentation about how they work.
Theatres in Amsterdam, Rotterdam Utrecht and Hilversum will also be showing the movie on Thursday, which is no coincidence: 8 August is International Cat Day. Groningen’s screenings at the Groninger Forum cinema on 8 August are both sold out, but tickets are still available for two screenings on the fourth of October.
