The fourth edition of the Campus Trail run through Zernike Campus will take place next week Friday, September the 15th. Hopeful runners who are yet to sign up have the chance to do so until the 8th of September.

The run itself is approximately four miles long throughout the Zernike Campus. The trail begins at Loge Holding at 3:30 p.m., with the starting shot fired by none other than Groningen mayor Koen Schuiling.

Some of the landmarks that runners will be able to run past include the Avebe Innovation Center, Startup City, and the reconstructed Zernikeplein 7. The run ends at the Campus Café in Brasserie Zernike.

Those who do wish to attend the run can register through the Register Campus Trail page. A regular entry costs €14.50 while students receive a €5 discount if they present their student number.

A new and improved bitterballen

Local residents are well aware of the common bar snack known as the bitterballen. A Dutch staple, the organizers of the Campus trail run are hoping that their newly developed protein balls catch on as much as the iconic bitterbal has.

“This snack of the future is a tasty vegetarian and healthier alternative to the regular bitterbal, which is suitable for this sporty run,” said Amber van der Schaaf, the communication and events manager at Campus Groningen.

Participants will be able to try the innovative snack after the run, at the Campus Café in Brasserie Zernike.
