On September 20, trail runners in the North will once again get a unique opportunity to run through a 4-mile long trail through cutting edge buildings in Groningen during the Campus Trail Run.
Fancy running through some of Groningen’s most high-tech buildings? The Campus Trail Run, which is an initiative by the Campus Groningen, will lead runners through a number of iconic structures in the city. The 6.5KM will begin at 3:30 at the new Avebe Innovation Centre, which is also where the unusual running event’s finish line will be held.
During this third edition of the unusual race, Campus Groningen has once again brought together a number of partners, including Lode Holdings (who own many of the buildings), the University of Groningen and Hanzehogeschool Groningen, and Avebe. The run’s themes are healthy ageing and vitality, both of which are primary focus areas of much of the health and technological research at Zernike Campus.
Marieke Kanon, communications manager at Avebe, a potato-based starch manufacturer, says, “The Campus Trail is a lovely event, and one with which we can throw open the doors of the Avebe Innovation Centre with a sporty greeting.”
During the run, participants will be able to get a behind-the-scenes peek at the labs, offices, and development spaces on the Zernike Campus. Participants will receive suitably techy medal at the end of the course and can enjoy refreshments along with their fellow runners.
