Campus Groningen is one of the city’s success stories
More and more new companies are being created, or moving to Campus Groningen: the cluster project housed at the Zernike campus, and around the UMCG in GRoningen.
The number of companies on the Campus increased by 10 percent last year and the number of students also increased by that percentage, says the Campus. Koen Schuiling, Mayor of Groningen, and also chairman of the Campus Steering Committee, says that the growth is due to ‘innovation’, reports the GIC.
In total, Campus Groningen now has 230 companies, more than 20,000 jobs, 3 knowledge institutions and more than 50,000 students.
Three years ago, Campus Groningen was named the fastest growing Campus in the Netherlands and the second largest campus in terms of employment.
