It sits in the middle of the Frisian meadows, and only accepts four campers at one time

Visitors to Europe’s largest camping platform, Campercontact, have voted the Landgoed Hizzard in Lollum the country’s best camp site. It is based in the grounds of a Frisian farmhouse, and is owned by the couple Piet and Martha Kaastra. As reported by the Omrop Fryslân.
The campground is around 5 hectares large, but only has places for four sets of campers. Its got an average rating of 9.8 out of 10 from its visitors on Campercontact. Second place went to Campererf Kweetal in Zuid-Holland, whilst third place went to the Wellinghoeve in Groessen (Gelderland).
Landgoed Hizzard also won the top prize two years ago, but their lives don’t entirely revolve around camping. The couple also make furniture, and have a menagerie of pets. They were previously farmers, but gave up the agricultural lifestyle a few years ago to manage Landgoed Hizzard.
According to the farm’s website, camping is available with access to luxury showers and facilities in a reconditioned barn, whilst WiFi is also available. Lollum is in the municipality of Sud-West Friesland, and sits close to the popular holiday destination of Makkum.
Campercontact has information about over 33,000 camp-sites across Europe, and is visited by around 180,000 people monthly. For more information about Landgoed Hizzard, just head to their website.
