A mindless vandal has been slammed after commuters were confronted with a destroyed bus stop on Sunday morning, RTV Noord reports.
In images posted by many outlets, a bus shelter on Stationsweg, Winsum, is seen surrounded by shards of shattered glass.
The window panes of the public transport waiting zone were smashed at some point on Saturday evening by a destructive hoodlum.
Police detained a 24-year-old individual without a permanent residence.
A spokesman for ProRail, which manager the Winsum station, says they are saddened by the incident: “The accessibility of public transport is very important to us; it is extremely annoying that people could cause such destruction.”
The company said that they are still assessing the scale of the damage. ProRail also stated they had filed a complaint against the perpetrator.
