The Helpman, Oosterpoort, Rivierenbuurt and Lewenborg neighbourhoods were without power for about half an hour on Friday afternoon.
The Groninger Internet Courant writes that the outage began around 12:21 p.m. and had been largely fixed 26 minutes later. Around 200 homes on the Bieslookstraat and the Koerspad did not have their power restored until around 2:30 p.m.
Dagblad van het Noorden reports energy company Enexis says that the outage was caused by excavation works in the city, although they have not yet identified where it originated. The outage was exacerbated by the fact that Enexis’ own offices were impacted and their website was briefly inaccessible.
