Groningen Police have announced that the body recovered from a canal yesterday has been identified as that of Thomas van Zeewijk Vink, the 25-year-old who was reported missing over the weekend.
Thomas van Zeewijk Vink was reportedly attending a Christmas drinks event on Friday with his colleagues when he told them he was going to get some fresh air. When he failed to return, he was reported missing to the authorities.
A number of intensive searches were conducted on the land, sea, and in the air. On Wednesday late afternoon, a body was found in the Van Starkenborghkanaal. Today authorities announced that the body has now been identified as that of van Zeewijk Vink. The cause of death has not been publicly released.
