The former sugar factory in Groningen is hosting largest physical Blockchain Hackaton in the world this weekend.

For the next four days and nights, around 700 tech pioneers from all over the globe will be assembling in the former sugar factory (Suikerfabriek) on the western outskirts of Groningen. Divided into 63 teams, the participants the Blockchaingers Hackathon 2018 will try to come up with innovative and future-proof applications for blockchain technology based around themes: future of pensions, health, energy transition, public safety, digital nations infrastructure, machine 2 machine economy and global digital identity.
The best ideas and concepts will be announced on Sunday and the winners will split 105,000 euros in prize money, intended to help them kickstart their project.
