In May, Mark and Dave Pretorius, the South African brothers who own Block & Barrels steakhouse on the Hoogstraatje in Groningen, are set to open Barracuda Social Club, a seafood and cocktail restaurant on the Schuitendiep.

Groningen culinary blog De Smaak van Stad reports that Barracuda will be taking the place of Robuust, which will be closing after three and a half years in business. Block & Barrels opened in 2017 and specialises in sustainable, locally sourced meat and craft beers in an informal setting.
At the Barracuda Social Club, the Pretorius brothers will apply the same approach to seafood – they are reportedly seeking to source their fish from local suppliers – and meat and a range of vegetarian options will be on the menu as well. Sikkom writes that as the name “social club” suggests, the new restaurant will also set itself apart from Block & Barrels by putting a stronger emphasis on cocktails.
