With temperatures well above 30 degrees Celsius this week, the northern provinces will be feeling the heat this week. Residents of Groningen and Emmen can expect sunny conditions upwards of 32 degrees Celsius from Thursday onwards, reports Weeronline. As of Tuesday, the 9th of August, the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) has not issued a warning for the increased temperatures.
Elsewhere in the Netherlands, temperatures are expected to reach upwards of 34 degrees Celsius, reports the Dagblad van het Noorden. In their report, they recommend heading to the Wadden Islands, which will reach a maximum of 26-28 degrees Celsius, should you find yourself looking for somewhere to cool down.
In addition to the high temperatures, residents of the northern provinces can also look forward to a week of sunny conditions, with mild bouts of cloudiness reported between the 9th and 10th of August. The “tropical” weather is expected to last for quite some time, reports the Groninger Internet Courant. They state that the sunny conditions are expected to continue into the weekend by the very least.
With little wind expected this week, be sure to pack up on water and sunscreen.
