Flags are fluttering in Assen, as both a celebration of 75 ears of liberation, and to honour care staff working through the Coronavirus outbreak
Municipalities in Drenthe have called on residents to hang up the Dutch flag en masse to celebrate 75 years of liberation from Drenthe, and as a tribute to healthcare workers.
Residents of the Beilerholt apartment complex on Beilerstraat in Assen have created a large scale ‘wall of flags’ in response, reports the Asser Courant.
The red, white, and blue stripes are now fluttering from almost every balcony. According to an inhabitants of the apartments, they have mainly been hung to show support for everyone that works in healthcare.
