That’s slightly less than last year

As reported in the Groninger Internet Courant, the 34th edition of ESNS in Groningen had 42,061 visitors attend from 52 different countries. The total is slightly lower than last year, when 42,789 people came to Groningen.
This year, 347 acts from 33 countries played in the city, across 48 different locations including a barn on the Grote Markt, various theatres, and the Oosterpoort. The new Forum Groningen, which also hosted bands, was the location for the accompanying ESNS music industry conference.
ESNS reflected on a successful edition saying it had “a line-up of leading European artists and an advanced programme.”
Various awards were presented during ESNS and at the Noordeslag event, NPO Radio 2’s DJ Rob Stenders won the Pop Media Prize, whilst the Pop Prize was given to Floor Jansen, who is the lead singer for Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. She has also appeared in the Dutch TV show ‘De Beste Zangers.”
The music conference at ESNS saw the announcement that 15-year old Pieter Gabriel will produce a special piece of music to be played during Eurovision 2020.
