A two-week residency by the Argentine postmodern theatre group Fuerza Bruta in Leeuwarden in December is set to be the biggest event in the city since the Royal de Luxe giants during LF2018.

The Leeuwarder Courant reports that the theatre troupe will end their world tour with a series of performances between 5 and 19 December in the Frisian capital. It was announced back in February that Fuerza Brute (“Brute Force” in Spanish) would be coming to Friesland, but Claudia Woolgar says that the performances have now been officially confirmed.
The group will put on 22 performances in the city and tickets will cost 50 euros a piece. The venue for the performances has not yet been made public. Woolgar is a producer with the Brave New World foundation – together with Jan van Erve, the foundation is responsible for bringing the group to the north.
Fuerza Bruta’s residency is meant to be a continuation of the legacy of the Leeuwarden-Friesland European Capital of Culture year in 2018. The group combines music and theatre and does not limit their performance to the stage: the performers often incorporate the space above the audience into their dynamic shows.
What is the legacy of LF2018? What are the city and province’s goals for hosting high caliber cultural events in the future? We will be sharing an in-depth conversation with Claudia Woolgar in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
