People that have been demonstrating at the abortion clinic in Groningen on the Radesingel are no longer allowed to stand on the doorstep, says Mayor Koen Schuiling. Unbelievably, Schuiling felt the need to hold a public consultation before banning the practice, which is both threatening and stigmatising for women exercising their legal rights to terminate a pregnancy. As reported by the GIC.
Based on the consultation, it has been decided that protesters are no longer allowed to stand on the sidewalk or on the Radesingel. The ban applies to the entire sidewalk between the Trompbrug and the Verlengde Oosterstraat.
Demonstrations are still allowed on the grass, but the screaming fanaticists will not be able to use loud-hailers.
