The annual May funfair has returned to Groningen’s city centre and will entertain daredevils and those seeking calmer rides alike.
Spread out over the Grote Markt, Vismarkt, and also with rides at the Ossenmarkt, the Meikermis will be in town from May 9th till May 20th 2024.
Grote Markt and Vismarkt children’s attractions will cost up to €2.50, prices for other rides will cost €3 and the main attraction will set you back €4.00. As done in previous years, the Ossenmarkt will host an older set of rides (referred to as ‘the nostalgic rides’) for €1.50 per round.
The opening hours vary by weekday, but the rides in the city centre will usually be open from around noon to midnight. The rides at the Ossenmarkt are usually open from around noon to 22:00.
Three people were slightly injured in the 2022 edition of the funfair when a ride unexpectedly started moving during a passenger change.
