An office in a caravan? Hoogeveense company comes up with innovative home working solution

Kip, a caravan manufacturer in Hoogeveen is trying to bring that holiday feeling to home-working

“The holiday season is now coming to an end, especially now that most campsites are closing. But we are trying to extend the season,” says Peter Hagenus of Kip Caravans. The company is trying to bring caravans and motorhomes that had been rented out during the summer back to market as mobile offices for home-working people, reports RTV Drenthe.

In order to show the possibilities that a caravan-office can provide, four staff-members at Kip are already working from caravans themselves. “There’s already a colleague who is combining work with a holiday- and is currently in Italy, working from his holiday home/office”, says Hagenus.

Hagenus points to features such as solar panels that allow workers to break free from the traditional ‘work from home’ setup. “With these you don’t have to work from just outside of your house, but can take your work with you”, he says.

At the moment, there aren’t too many takers for the idea: “but we’ve only been working on it for a few days”, says Hagenus.
