The Danish Railways (DSB) wants to introduce a direct train from Amsterdam to Copenhagen with a timetable expected in mid-December 2025.
This news was reported by Treinreiziger that said that the DSB also wants direct trains to other cities, such as Oslo, Gothenburg, Berlin, Prague and Amsterdam. A direct train journey between Amsterdam and Copenhagen is expected to take 9.5 hours. Currently, flights between the two cities typically last around 1.5 hours.
No further details about possible train stops on the way were released, so it is unclear whether the North of the Netherlands would be served in any way by the new route.
In June of this year, Arriva Netherlands applied for rights to operate its first ‘Open Access’ international trains linking Groningen to Paris. Arriva wants to connect Groningen with Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Brussels and Paris from June 2026.
