Groningen Airport Eelde and the New Energy Coalition are teaming up to make the airport more sustainable using hydrogen power
Groningen Airport Eelde and the New Energy Coalition are going to work together to make the GAE more sustainable and create the first ‘Hydrogen Valley Airport’ in Europe, reports the GIC.
Eelde’s ambition is to become the most sustainable airport in Europe. This would be achieved through application of hydrogen power and, together with educational institutions, business and governments work on various projects in the field of sustainability.
The airport wants to produce green hydrogen on site and use it on both land and air side. For example, the airport’s solar park could be used to produce green hydrogen through electrolysis and to realise a multi-fuel filling station where all types of vehicles can refuel, including hydrogen-fuelled planes.
